Christopher Tolkien, unlike Brian Herbert, was a distinguished literary scholar of his own right. I tried to get through Paul of Dune, but it's drivel. And I'm a pretty forgiving reader, having devoured plenty of dreck and enjoyed it (like the Hunger Games trilogy for example).

I just finished reading the Hunger Games trilogy. In less than a week. It was really good.

Work
Where wizards stayed up late - Matthew Lyon, Katie Hafner: The beginning of the internet. Plenty of history and lessons

Fun
The Hunger Games Trilogy - Suzanne Collins. Young adult fiction that reads fast but makes you think.

Life
Marry Him: The Case for Settling for Mr. Good Enough - Lori Gottlieb: Amusing book, easy read and aimed at women, but has some good insights on why we fail to get married before it's too late.

I love that I was able to scroll through pages on Amazon to check (most of) the books I read this year.

Indeed. Writing a book creates a passive income stream. Much like a blog with ads. It's arguable it's not completely passive, you can/should do promo - but equally you may want to do SEO on a blog.

The Hunger Games trilogy will be getting a lot of sales now, since the movie has been released and it did well on Amazon. The first book is 4 years old though, plenty of books pay off after the initial release.
