nc was awesome — it still lives on in a way, as inspiration for Midnight Commander[1].

It looks like you've re-invented Midnight Commander, which was a re-invention of Norton Commander, which was probably a re-invention of something else.

Which is a good thing! I look forward to downloading and trying it out.

I mean heck even dubsteps original releases (Skream’s Midnight Request Line for example) retains the non-aggressiveness. Bro-step ruined it all haha

I just finished "Midnight in Chernobyl". One of the things mentioned in there was that the automation for their RBMK reactors was primitive compared to Western reactors. Even for normal operation, the operators had to be hands on continually to keep those beasts under control.

Midnight Cowboy received Best Picture in 1970 according to imdb. This movie can hardly be considered pornography by today's standards, but it was about a male prostitute and rated X.

Midnight's Children is like The Lord of the Rings for people who like modern literature. It's no more silly or obscure than LOTR.

The postmodernists call it "post-colonial magical realism", because they can't admit that it's just fantasy written by a good author (who writes very pretty prose) who likes character development more than sword-fights.

Think of "the literary establishment" as Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons. Don't let their posturing put you off.

Greenlight is still a vetting process, just with a different mechanism. Suggesting that anyone can just get their game on Steam is flat out wrong. Really well made and polished games (see: Midnight Mansion from ActionSoft) fail to get noticed through either process all the time.

I have nothing to do with this service but I find it definitely compelling. Indie Game Stand only features one new game every four days (so even if you're accepted you likely have to wait to launch.) As for Desura, that looks like another good option, but is still quite a bit more involved.

If I made a game (a 48 Lundum Dare game like in the example page, for instance) and just wanted a way to put it out there immediately with little effort and no need to join a community or anything, itchio provides that option. That's what is compelling.
