My favorite books I read in 2016:

How to Win Friends and Influence People - Dale Carnegie

The 10X Rule: The Only Difference Between Success and Failure - Grant Cardone

Hack Upwork: How to Make Real Money as a Freelancer - Danny Flood

What are your favorite books of 2016 Andrey?

Many great companies can be started in 2016 as a solo founder. Not every company needs to be the next Google to be massively successful and rewarding.

Look at the Forbes 400 list. There are literally hundreds of solo founders who are the wealthiest people in the world.

Always remember, no cofounder is better than the wrong cofounder.

For those who want to understand execution, I highly recommend reading The 10x Rule by Grant Cardone

I always thought of 10x engineers as a specific type of engineer that follow the 10x rule, as detailed and discussed by Grant Cardone in his book `The 10x rule`. More on that book here: https://jamesclear.com/book-summaries/10x-rule

> The 10X Rule says that 1) you should set targets for yourself that are 10X greater than what you believe you can achieve and 2) you should take actions that are 10X greater than what you believe are necessary to achieve your goals. The biggest mistake most people make in life is not setting goals high enough. Taking massive action is the only way to fulfill your true potential.

Have you read Grant's other books? So far I've read Sell or Be Sold, The 10x Rule, If You're Not First, You're Last and Be Obsessed or be Average. I've found all of them to be pretty good. Not necessarily life changing, but solid, with a good mix of motivational message and some actionable ideas. Enough so that I'll probably go back through and read a couple of those again and actually take notes this time through.

Non-fiction:

Tough to call. I got a lot out of Deep Work by Cal Newport, The Obstacle Is The Way by Ryan Holiday, How To Win At The Sport Of Business by Mark Cuban, Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman, and The Engines of Creation by Eric Drexler, as well as the three Grant Cardone books I read: The 10x Rule, Sell or Be Sold and Be Obsessed or Be Average.

Fiction:

I'll go with The Whispering Room by Dean Koontz. A Wild Sheep Chase by Haruki Murakami was also pretty good.

You can see the entire list of what I've read lately (and further back) on my Goodreads profile:

I second this recommendation. I'm a big fan of Grant's material. Some of it blurs the line between actual, technical "sales advice" and a more generic sort of almost "self help" kind of thing, but I have found it valuable in either case.

In addition to Sell or Be Sold and The 10x Rule, I'd also suggest Be Obsessed or Be Average.
